Wordfence is one of the best WordPress plugin for security purpose which provides live website scan and report issues to you, live traffic preview, Performance setup (Cache option to speed up WordPress), Whois lookup, Firewall rules, Login Security options,ip blocking for free and email alerts etc.
The options i mentioned above are absolutely free and provide full service and you do not have to upgrade to premium version for them but if you want the options of Cell Phone sign-in , Country Blocking, Scan Scheduling Date wise (It does it for free too but you can not specify dates in free version), Advanced comment spam filter, Check if your WordPress site is being "Spamvertised", Check if your site ip is generating spam etc then you will have to get the premium version which costs $26.33 per Year.

The best part of the wordfence scan is that it just does not scans for security issues but tell you EXACTLY where they are and what you should actually fix. For Example.

Performance setup
This is a cache plugin within wordfence plugin. If you already are using a Cache plugin then do not use it as it will put a burden on your wordpress site and if you want to use it then first disable the one you already are using and then try this out and if your experience goes smoother with it then keep it on but we personally tried it but later went back to the older plugin but it is not something compulsory you can keep it off and by default after the Installation it is disabled.
These were some major feature you can have for free and it also defends the brute-force attacks happening from Russian servers to US servers on Wordpress sites. If you have chosen the options it automatically blocks the ip that tries to login several times. So in short this single package gives you several security options. Now just give it a try .
